PROGRAMMING & PLANNING

Programming & Planning

We have extensive Project Management experience and strive to ensure the seamless delivery of Client Projects regardless of the size or complexity. From procurement through to completion a well managed project relies on accurate planning and programming.

Media coverage of the construction industry is typically negative, consistently reporting on delays, setbacks, risks and uncertainty. However, we aim to ensure that this doesn’t happen to your project!

Employers & Clients

We can provide programmes for individual or numerous projects each tailored to the specific requirements of the client. For a successful project it is essential that the Employer has a detailed programme which can be updated at regular intervals or as the contract requires.

This will assist with:
  • Obtaining funding and ensuring the confidence of the key stakeholders or funders.
  • Managing the design process and ensuring design activities are completed within the periods necessary to ensure the flow of information to the contractor, is on time.
  • Providing assistance with the review of differing construction methods or processes and see what effect they could have on the project.
  • Highlighting potential problems which could lead to delays in the project at the earliest stages possible and managing these issues to minimise any effects on the project.
  • Reviewing and interrogating contractor’s programmes and precisely monitoring progress to ensure factual records are reported throughout the duration of the project.
  • Provision of detailed programme information to support any delay analysis required as evidence in the event of disputes arising.
  • Conducting independent due diligence and interrogation of project programmes, providing the Client with confidence through second opinion.

For Contractors & Sub-Contractors

We can provide planning services for both contractors and sub-contractors, through the various stages of the project cycle, both pre-contract and post contract. It is essential that projects have an accurate programme which is continuously monitored and regularly updated, to be used as a management tool ensuring successful project delivery and not just a programme which is updated once a month for the Employer’s benefit, remaining un-revisited or reviewed for the next four weeks!

By ensuring a programme is monitored continuously the following rewards can be achieved:
  • Project management with accurate information on current progress achieved against that anticipated.
  • Delay to the critical path becomes evident if regularly updated.
  • Delays can be identified early and the relevant notifications issued to protect the contract position.
  • Programmes can be interrogated, identifying if resequencing is required or alternative methods can be employed to successfully mitigate any delays at the earliest stages possible.
  • Short term programmes for sections of work can de developed to ensure that planned targets are achieved.
  • Good planning is key to identifying financial commitments to the project such as preliminariesand other time related costs, these costs can have a significant financial impact on the outturn cost of a project.
One of the greatest failings within the construction industry is its ability to accurately plan, manage, control and report on project progress. However, these factors are essential in achieving profitability, high standards of quality and a guarantee of client satisfaction.
